How Our Foundation Began

Tina L. Collins, MBA

Founder & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Listening to jazz greats on 78 records while sitting on her grandfather’s lap, Tina developed a love for music that would grow to encompass a love for all forms of live performances.

After attending Hamilton and the Tina Turner musicals in London, England, and after much reflection, she realized that events like these were void of youth from diverse backgrounds.  She was overwhelmed with a need to bring this exposure to at-risk and underprivileged youth.  They needed to see and hear the stories of how individuals from their communities with adverse beginnings overcame the odds to achieve greatness.  This exposure is intended to teach them how to bring the outside world into their communities in an effort to change perceptions, beliefs, and dreams.

Several months later, the idea for The Show Me The Way Foundation developed. Encouraged by her mentor, Renee Merab, Tina knew she was now charged to affect change in the lives she saw missing in the many areas of society that she herself has been blessed to be a part of.

After receiving her Associate Degree in Music Marketing and Management, Tina was able to finally live a lifelong dream of working in the music industry. She has had the pleasure of working with and meeting world-renowned artists.

From there, her desire to expand her education allowed her to ultimately get her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Combined with over 20 years of working in business, a passion for music, and traveling, Tina now believes it is her time to share her love for the cultural diversity she has experienced through the arts here and abroad.
